Episode 135 - Double Standard, M11, and Spiders

Postby Chewbaca X » Wed Jun 30, 2010 9:28 pm

NOTE: THIS EPISODE (AND THUS THE DISCUSSION ABOUT POSSIBLE CHANGES TO DEATHTOUCH) WAS RECORDED WAY BEFORE WIZARDS SAID ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

THANK YOU,
THE MANAGEMENT

Eric of Many Names is back with us again, adding fuel to the various and sundry fires. Speaking of fires, after a somewhat brief rant to clear out my system, we start this episode off right by looking at the new Extended format and the Banned and Restricted list changes. What do you guys think about it? We already know what one person thinks! We have a recorded message from Tosus detailing some of his thoughts on this as well as Archenemy. Note the fireworks going off behind him...you know, because it's funny.

Holy crap I hate spiders. There's also some listener mail, the next Premium Deck Series announcement (Fire & Lightning - http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/A ... arcana/477) and of course we have to take a look at some of the one million M11 cards that have already been shown (http://www.wizards.com/magic/tcg/articl ... 11/spoiler).

There's an interesting discussion about some possible changes to Deathtouch, stemming from the new reminder text on Greater Basilisk. Of course, now we know all about what the changes are, but this entire discourse came about because Mike saw the new reminder text and tried to figure out why they would change it to that specifically. It's an excellent look at why Mike is our rules guy. Hope you enjoy!

Well damn... looks like I'll have to alternate Hypergenesis with Living End. 0_o You guys really lost it an hour and 30 minutes in. Good to know the stuff I enjoy is still there. Buddy Spells? You guys need your own cycle of Buddy Spells.

The little break with Tosus sending in his thoughts was actually quite cool, different. Hope to see more of such things.

Honestly, this was one of the best episodes of late. The chemistry lost with Christian and Bryan a few episodes ago is totally here with Mr Suitcase! The talking over eachother bit did not bother me at all this time around.

This was so laugh out loud funny I got weird looks at work. From this pretty girl. I guess I saved my butt by showing her my Ipod and saying 'it's a podcast'. She seemed to get it.. I hope :oops:

Oh and special props go to Mike and Dirk. You guys had some AWESOME one liners this episode! I tip my hat!
Guys, Keep this up, and for God's sake, take the Watchman up on his offer to podcast again, please!

10/10, A++, would listen again.

I must agree, this podcast is terribly funny, especially of late. Another great episode as always, and it certainly guarentees me odd looks from friends and family when i listen to it. :) Keep it coming guys!

Threads like these inflate my ego and make me smile not necessarily in that order.
