Episode 78 - Alara Reborn Preview 3

Postby Chewbaca X on Fri Apr 24, 2009 5:17 am

And the final Alara Reborn Preview is upon us! We are Mikeless in this episode, but that's okay because we have joining us the amazing Jason, also known as garthok84 on the forums, who was the third place winner of our big contest at the beginning of the year. He takes up the slack from Mike's absence and is generally a horrible human being throughout the entire episode. Which is what we look for in a guest host named Jason.

But of course, we have a whole thoctar-load of previews to get through. Which is really hard considering all the random tangents, animal interruptions, challengers appearing, and poisoning of the forum members that are going on. But we eventually get through them all. You know, eventually. It's a seriously funny ride this time around though, so if you can make it through the whole thing, we hope you enjoyed it. Contrary to what you hear me say in this episode, we did not go past two hours. I just thought we did because I can't tell time.

Thanks for another great episode. I'm personally VERY excited for the pre-release tournament tomorrow and Sunday. I'm actually considering going to do different tournaments in my area just to get my hands on more cards! Mwahahaha!

Oh and by the way.... EVERYONE always thinks its Whiter Hyno! I should really consider changing that but meh. Ohh and I'm also Ryan Hill from the Facebook group. ^.^

I got the Lich Lord in my prerelease pool and it seriously went the distance. It won me two or three games. Next in goodness were Soul Manipulation, Mask of Riddles and Arsenal Thresher. A 6/6 arsenal Thresher equipped with a Mask of Riddles is terrifying for an opponent with no black or artifacts. Although less scary than a wisescale coatl equipped with a mask. *shudder* 14/14 when it killed me...

My friend went 3-1 and attributes his success to the Behemoth Sledge. I saw him stick 2 behemoth Sledges and 1 Mage Slayer on a Quasali Pride mage and kill someone. It was pretty amazing.

I was at the New Jersey Scholastic Championships for my rowing team and was therefore unable to get the new episode until now (i got back at like 1:00 am last night (yesterday morning?)) but I'm currently listening to it and it's really awesome. I haven't laughed this hard during a preview episode in a long time. Keep it up gang

Great episode, guys. I really don't have a lot of comments on the cards this time around because I was listening to it at work and couldn't make notes.

I am curious how cascade worked out for everyone at the pre-release. Doesn't have to be answered here, but it was on my mind when I was writing this.

Oh yeah, I loved when you guys were discussing the Esper life-gain critter and Brian mentioned using that with Mycosynth Lattice. The silence seemed to last forever while everyone winced.

The Behemoth Sledge is ridiculous. "Waah, it makes you run green and white mana." It is WAY better than the Loxodon Warhammer in my opinion because it has a lower cost AND it boosts the toughness. So that 1/1 Faerie token that could be a 4/1 with the Warhammer is much better as a 3/3 with the Sledge.

One final comment: Kill AJ. :)

Lower cost? Both have a converted mana cost of 3 and cost 3 to equip. I'm afraid that I don't understand your comment.

Sorry, misread it on the spoiler and thought I saw an equip cost of 2. My bad.
