Hello, I'm Nicholas. I'm 23 and live in upper Minnesota (quit literally the middle of nowhere). I was first introduced to Magic when sixth edition came out, but didn't start to play until 8th edition was released.
I like to find combos myself, rather than have the "ultimate" combo handed to me, but love to discuss the ramifications of different combo/deck ideas even more.
Look forward to discussing Magic with everyone here (you're all not stuck on tournament play only and its refreshing!)

Hey, I'm Chase and I am from Dripping Springs, Texas. I am 13 years old and I got my first cards when Darksteel came out but just started playing a few weeks ago when I got two core set theme decks. Now I got my mom to play a game almost every night and she looks like she is almost enjoying it. I found The Mana Pool about a week ago when i looked for MTG podcasts on iTunes, and I listen to at least one episode a day since i'm out of school for the summer. I heard Chewie acting as an endless commercial for Cardshark so I signed up and I plan on selling all of my old Yu-Gi-Oh cards that i haven't touched in years so I can use the cash to buy Magic stuff. I decided to check out the forums when I heard Chewie talk about it, so now i'm here. I hope to eventually attend at least one future prerelease but it is unlikely since I'm a tad to young to drive all the way to Austin, tx a full half hour away. Well thats about all I have to say. And Squanto is a beast.( I'm American Indian too 8) .....)

Sadly, the beast hasn't been around in a while. Any news on what happened to said Squanto?

Welcome to the forums, Chase! And here I thought the endless advertisement for Cardshark was all negative (turns out people kinda hate that sort of thing). If you're listening at that rate, you'll be catching up really soon, and you'll get to hear what us host-dorks actually sound like. Seems like we didn't really find our own style until we'd been at it for a couple months.

But back to Squanto. Due to his dislike of Shadowmoor, he told us he was going to bow out until after the Prerelease, or perhaps the Release. One of those. But he never returned. After a couple of scheduling attempts with no response from him, I just assumed his interest in the show had permanently waned and he had found something else to occupy him.

Sadly, we don't seem to hang out anymore either. We were usually together about once a week before we started doing the show. Once we started the show, that once a week was the weekly recording session. Now that he's not recording anymore, we don't see each other. I do believe next week I'ma give him a call and see if he wants to chill a while. I misses the Squanto!

Hey all, my name is Doug White. I'm originally from a small town in Illinois. Now I live in the state capital of Springfield. I play every single Friday Night Magic I can humanly make at Capital City Games.

I learned to play in Ice Age but I didn't start buying or playing regularly till Mirage rolled around (though that didn't stop me from buying a lot of Ice age and loving it :)).

When I left for school, I lost interest in Magic and tried coming back to it several times but just never managed to get things started. I always would come back and try to draft or would play on apprentice with a friend who was in pretty heavy at the time but things never really worked out till I noticed a flashy sign outside of CCG a few months ago. Since then I have been hooked and I've reverted back to my Johnny/Spike ways.

I noticed you guys had some articles up and I figured I might try my hand at it based on a filtered mix of sitting around a bullshitting with the guys at the shop, some combos I had seen and others I came up with in contemplation of the Shadowmoor visual spoiler page :D

I'm stoked for the Eventide Pre-release and I am waiting to see if they erata the newest card they spoiled for being a possible 3rd turn kill (Bloom Tender).

This might make it into an article after I get some time in on Eventide, but:
Bloom Tender + Umbral Mantle + Manaforge Cinder or Zealous Guardian.

Turn 1: Plains or Island and Guardian or Mountain or Swamp and Cinder
Turn 2: Bloom Tender
Turn 3: Cast the Mantle, equip it. Tap the elf for 3 mana, untap it using the mantle increasing it's p/t by +2/+2. Rinse, repeat till it's big enough to eat the opponent (assuming they don't have a blocker).

I also have some general articles on draft strategy to post up that are simmering in the back of my head. I would love to draft a n00b's guide to drafting and some other stuff because the only times I drafted before fairly recently were in sets that just were nowhere near as friendly about it ;)

Wow! A whole lot has changed around here in the last several months.

Some rather serious family stuff made me miss it all until now.

I'm Bob. "rpitcher" at just about every Magic site, including this one. "rpitcher26" at eBay, Pogo, Absolute Poker...

I started playing during the winter of 93/94. I began playing in tournaments when Ice Age sealed deck was the format for some Pro Tour Qualifiers.

I'm 42 with two kids, but I try to keep playing anyway.

I've been buying thousands of cards here at CardShark since 2002, and have even sold 551 Magic Online cards here. I've had a few articles posted here as well.

I'm a self-proclaimed "casually competitive" player. I enjoy the game a lot, but only get serious about competitive Magic every now and then. I've never qualified for the Pro Tour, and haven't had a PTQ Top 8 since 2001.

I used to run sanctioned tournaments in my small home town, but no longer have a facility to hold events at. I generally have to drive 40kms or more to find organized play such as FNM.

My name's Rob Anderson & I'm 29. I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin but currently live in Utah. I'm quite new to Magic. I only starting playing in 2007 (around the time the Mana Pool started) but the podcast has helped me learn a lot about the game and what's out there. I have spent much time listening to The Mana Pool with the Gatherer search page open so that I can slowly learn about all the cards that came out before I started playing. I like Cardshark because I'm a cheapskate and as much as I like Magic I would still rather pay pocket change for cards and keep the rest of my money for Star Trek DVDs.

I am very casual and am more interested in the fun interactions than in the quickest route to victory. I like spaceninja's "Gentleman's Magic" ideas about making things interesting instead of competition oriented. I have had many games end with some kid going "I gotz teh manaz so I Tooth and Nail for 2 Darksteelio Colossusez and I winz". Unfortunately for me not being interested in the quickest route to victory is actually the quickest route to defeat.

I also love old video games. I have a pretty big collection with some rare & weird systems like an Atari Jaguar and a Virtual Boy.

I may have to challenge buddha_357 in a battle of facial hair.
I call upon Cardassians everywhere. Resist. Resist today. Resist tomorrow. Resist till the last Dominion soldier has been driven from our soil!

Hello fellow nerds,my name is bill juber and I am located north of pittsburgh in a little town called ambridge. I have been playing for about 13yrs now.I actuallylearned using the original portal set(god that was along time ago lol).I am a hard core control player but like to try other styles as well. I am not real good at agro but I am working on that. I found the mana pool by accident when a friend gave me my first Ipod,a used 2gig but it got me hooked both on ipod and the mana pool. I do have one question for the hosts though, why do you call yourselves dorks when a dork is a whale's penis? just asking lol. that aside,I love the show and finally got a big enough ipod to store all the casts that I enjoy the most, which at this point is about 12. a question for dirk(sorry if I spelled your name wrong),are you hoping they will bring back nacatl-war pride in alara reborn? I know I am. Well,I will post again later and cant wait to listen to your next cast. keep up the good work nerds

I never put my self on here.. This is Matt. The MattchooBaby. My grandma calls me that, always has. It's embossed on my wallet. I am goofy, weird, and competitive. Love this Magic game too much. It keeps me and my brother in touch, and therefore the rest of the family. Thanks to Richard! Like he will ever read this. I hope to be good friends with all of you!
