Hey all, my name is Doug White. I'm originally from a small town in Illinois. Now I live in the state capital of Springfield. I play every single Friday Night Magic I can humanly make at Capital City Games.
I learned to play in Ice Age but I didn't start buying or playing regularly till Mirage rolled around (though that didn't stop me from buying a lot of Ice age and loving it

).
When I left for school, I lost interest in Magic and tried coming back to it several times but just never managed to get things started. I always would come back and try to draft or would play on apprentice with a friend who was in pretty heavy at the time but things never really worked out till I noticed a flashy sign outside of CCG a few months ago. Since then I have been hooked and I've reverted back to my Johnny/Spike ways.
I noticed you guys had some articles up and I figured I might try my hand at it based on a filtered mix of sitting around a bullshitting with the guys at the shop, some combos I had seen and others I came up with in contemplation of the Shadowmoor visual spoiler page
I'm stoked for the Eventide Pre-release and I am waiting to see if they erata the newest card they spoiled for being a possible 3rd turn kill (Bloom Tender).
This might make it into an article after I get some time in on Eventide, but:
Bloom Tender + Umbral Mantle + Manaforge Cinder or Zealous Guardian.
Turn 1: Plains or Island and Guardian or Mountain or Swamp and Cinder
Turn 2: Bloom Tender
Turn 3: Cast the Mantle, equip it. Tap the elf for 3 mana, untap it using the mantle increasing it's p/t by +2/+2. Rinse, repeat till it's big enough to eat the opponent (assuming they don't have a blocker).
I also have some general articles on draft strategy to post up that are simmering in the back of my head. I would love to draft a n00b's guide to drafting and some other stuff because the only times I drafted before fairly recently were in sets that just were nowhere near as friendly about it
