Having mass removal can be very useful, which makes Scourglass powerful, especially since it doesn't kill your stuff and it kills planeswalkers. Sharuum is big card advantage in that it is a big body and can bring back something else useful.

How have you been doing with this deck so far? What cards don't seem to be pulling their weight? Since you've got some experience with the deck, that can help us find a jumping off point before making crack analyses.

I know barely anyone uses megrim... But it may help in your deck lorincz. But before you put anything in, find out what isnt pulling its weight, as garthok said.

Hi guys!

After being out of the running of standard magic for a long time, Zendikar came around and peaked my interest once more.
I found out about the landfall/warp world trick and set out to build the good old warp world deck again!

(I assume the reader knows roughly the rules of building a Warp World deck, so i’m not going into those, i’ll focus on the new aspects of WW interacting with landfall)

This version is actually less focussed on warp worlding and does NOT have the ability to warp more than once consistendly (maybe if you had 2 in hand) but aims to ramp into big threats, abusing the landfall mechanic along the way, and flat out KILL with one warp world.

Creatures
4x Birds of Paradise
4x Oracle of Mul Daya
1x Grazing Gladeheart
4x Bloodbraid Elf
1x Madrush Cyclops
4x Siege-Gang Commander
3x Ob Nixilis, the Fallen
3x Rampaging Baloths

Non-Creatures
4x Trace of abundance
4x Khalni-Heart Expidition
4x Warp World

Land
4x Verdant Catacombs
4x Misty Rainforest
3x Scalding Tarn
1x Arid Mesa
5x Forest
5x Mountain
2x Swamp

SB
3x Grazing Gladeheart
3x Duress
3x Acidic Slime
4x Putrid Leach
2x Vines of Vastwood

Some card choises:

Ob nixilis:
The obvious kill when warp worlding. He sees all the lands coming into play, sucking all that life. Even if you flip up 2 ob’s, they both first see all the land, do all the damage and THEN kill eachother when WW has resolved. Hard to cast sometimes from your hand but BoP and Trace’s help.

Siege-Gang Commander:
Ups the permanent count heavily and is a strong threat on it’s own.

Rampaging Baloths:
Strong ramp and killer when warped into with the cyclops.

Madrush Cyclops:
Good ramp-into card.

Trace of Abundance & Khalni-Heart expidition
Good ramping and color fixing. The expidition works great with landfall triggers of course. Sadly it does not see the lands coming into play, but the fetches you flipped will fix that problem later in the turn.

Bloodbraid elf:
Cascades into mana ramp 9 out of 10 times. Blocks and attacks after a warp. Great card.

Warp World:
Often your kill-card. Few other decks abuse it as much as you do, so even IF they’ve got equal or more permanents, you usually come out ahead.

A few notes:
No planeswalkers, you don’t WW into them. I might put them in the SB to turn the deck into a whole different thing against bad matchups.
Sb is there to make the deck a bit more resistand to weenie rushes, they kill this. Grazing gladehearts help out a lot and putrid leaches might stall. Any tips on the sideboard are greatly apreciated.
I’d like tips about the main too.

So I hope you liked my take on Warp World post rotation, and I also hope this starts some discussion on the deck-type!
Thanks for reading!

No replies yet. Have you all been dumbstruck by the awesomeness? :P

Sideboard idea change:

New Sb:
3 Garruk Wildspeaker
3 Grazing Gladeheart
4 Lightning Bolt/Burst Lightning/Volcanic fallout (bolt kills skyfishers early, stags, whatnot, burst can take bigger stuffs on and is simply better late. Fallout is mentioned just because)
2 Vines of Vastwood
3 Duress

When facing a R/W bushwhacker deck of fast doom, I plan to change the entire deck around.
-4 Warp World
-4 Trace of Abundance/khalni heart
-1 Madrush Cyclops
-1 oracle of mul daya

+3 Garruk
+4 Lbolt/BurstL
+3 Grazing Gladeheart
(+2 vines of vastwood if they're removal heavy)

This way i have ealry burn defence, a lightning rod in the form of garruk, and great lifegain engines in the gladehearts (and vines to protect if they run lots of revmoval).

Still hoping for some replies guys!

It's got a transformational sideboard. It transforms from a slower, warp world deck that plans to win later, into a r/g aggro deck that can gain life and hold off the early beats until they can make the kill with the big guys.

Yeah, those changes above are sideboard changes, not main deck changes :P

Small correction, my stupid face noticed that pyroclasm is in standart! :D -4 Lbolt, +4 pyroclasm!
I'm off to a FNM tonight with this deck, if it's anything interesting I'll post it here.

This is a white-blue control deck that I threw together. It's all about those merfolk that, when they tap, give you bonuses. It also has a couple counterspells and removal, but if the deck has a weakness, it's that there isn't actually that many non-creature spells.

creatures
cursecatcher -- x2
silvergill douser --x2
stonybrook banneret -- x2
merrow reejerey -- x2
lullmage mentor -- x2
fallowsage -- x2
surgespanner -- x3
merrow harbinger --x2
judge of currents -- x3
stonybrook schoolmaster -- x3
veteran of the depths -- x2

other spells
merrow commerce -- x2
convolute -- x4
cancel -- x3
scattering stroke -- x2
journey to nowhere -- x3
summon school -- x2

land
plains -- x10
island -- x11

more often than not, I'm using the merrow reejery to tap my own creatures rather than my opponents.
at least in the top 100 of greenest men alive.

Why is that a "weakness", and why don't you just tap down all your opponents guys and then attack? That's a pretty cool way of tapping your own merfolk, I think.

usually they have a larger creature on the board than I do. This deck doesn't have the capability to pump out more than a 3/3 with any consistency.
