It'd be okay if they print Quick Sliver with it. Being able to fetch the right keyword and drop it into play at the drop of a hat could be nice. I haven't ever played against a Sliver Overlord, but it seems like it would slow the game down as you'd tutor pretty often.

Ok, for the comic geeks out there, Anthony Hopkins will be Odin the GodFather in the new Thor movie. Discuss...

You guys know you want to play Magic the Gathering: Tactics. Maybe Akroma could be almost as broken as Orlandu.

God, that Dragon graphic looks awful! This from Sony, whose PS3 is renowned for its graphics quality?

The very Sony who unleashed Everquest on the world, yes. I'm still not forgiving them for that.

I got the Orange Box on the 360 a long time ago, but thus far I've only played Portal. Due to ridiculous backup on games to play, I haven't gotten around to checking out Team Fortress 2 or even any of the Half-Life stuff. I suck.

Given they're doing the deck builders toolkits (with 100 lands for new players) now, shouldn't they put the 11th common back in the packs after Zendikar?

First I would like to make mention to the reason that Wizards gave as to why they started putting lands in boosters in the first place. "New players are having trouble getting lands!" I never felt they were telling the complete truth with that statement ($$$$$$$$$). We all were new players at one time and how did we get our lands? We collected them over time. I suspect Wizards maybe had a few other motives for their packaging chooses ($$$$$$$$$).

Anyhow, enough of the conspirousy theories. I always prefered another playable card vs a land. I like the looks of the new Zendikar lands, but I still rather have a common card in that spot in the boosters. When we draft, a common is most often of better use than is a land. That all being said, I doubt Wizards is going to go back to the way it was before. I fear that the lands in boosters are here to stay.

From Starter Packs. However, once we got enough, we stopped buying Starter Packs. It was only worth it for a new player to buy a Starter, because an established player would be practically drowning in extra lands after a couple years of playing and buying. Now there's a focused product to serve as a resource for lands that can be manufactured (and forecasted) specifically for demand by new players, with some background purchasing by people who have made enough decks that they're going to need another shot of lands to keep them going for the next while.

I've been playing since I was 6. I build a LOT of decks, and I hate having to disassemble and old deck because I'm out of islands. I really like having records of how I've progressed as a deckbuilder. So I'm totally in favor of getting lands without having to buy starters or rob prereleases.

my local card store just has boxes full of land. However, at 10Cents each they're the same price as a common, which kinda reflects the booster pack slot.
