First off, I just wanted to say sorry for the lateness of this episode. I'm sure you'll hear about why in the next one.

In this Mike-free show, we're here to talk the Alara Reborn Prerelease. We decided that it made more sense to record on a night that Brian could join us, since he was at the Prerelease, so we had to do it on a night Mike was unavailable. Sorry to all the Mike fans out there, he should be back next episode.

So join us for a complete look at how we did. All three of us competed in the Sealed portion. Guess what colors Dirk played! For that matter, guess what all of us played. It actually matches what you would think. Then Dirk and Brian did a draft. Guess what colors Dirk played! I bet you guess wrong! Hit the forums if you haven't already and let us know how you did. And if you want to cheat, you can check out the forum thread for this episode to see all 5 decklists. The link is right down there if you're not already on the forums.

Ok so Ive been organizing small tournies through DCI for about 4 months now. I set up the release tourny for my buddies but I had to work. Now I'd just like to know what is going on in newer player heads in a draft. One draft I ended up with a playset of path to exile. Now I just talked to my buddy Shane who played at our release and he got passed 5 terminates. WTF. I guess we need to just sit down with these newer players that we dont really know and explain to these guys what is good.

Or maybe we need to sit down and draft against these players. I'm all about some free packs. :D

Wow, after last week's long episode, you managed to come up with an even LONGER episode. Not complaining, just noting that it's funny.

Dirk's Sealed is a good deck, but I think it's an important lesson in not taking out a strong color just because you want to keep the others. I still have to try and get over that in drafts, since I really don't like blue.

Wow, Brian, a Knight of New Alara and Nemesis of Reason. Nice. Sorry it didn't work out for you though.

Your deck looks really good, Chewie. Congrats on doing well! I love the power of the Mountaineer with pump spells when someone is playing Mountains.

Wow, those draft picks looked great, guys. Nice play with that Gleam of Resistance, Brian. And it sounds like you had an awesome draft experience, Dirk. Congrats!

Just a quick question for Brian. When you said that Godsire isn't legendary, isn't there some rule that if you have two mythic rares of the same name in play, they're destroyed? I could've sworn that I heard that somewhere. Of course, I could also just be a raving lunatic, but let's hope that that's not true. haha

Sigiled behemoth poping a Squat lol.

I laughed when chewie said about the baby "it was so cute" it was just so out of character for the podcast. <Brains>

I agree that the Bonesaw (shouts "Booooone Saaaaw!") should be removed from the draft deck. It is good for comedy and not much else.

While listening to this cast I found $5.

Thanks for the awsome cast this way I got to hear some good stories of the new set even though I still have yet to get my hands on product. :(

No Phil, there is no such rule about the Mythics. Just Legends and Planeswalkers have that similar sort of thing.

I did straightforward creature + removal Naya decks at both the prerelease and the launch party. Prerelease I went 5 and 1 (lost to someone who found a way to exploit the way I poorly shuffle with sleeves and stacked my land for games 2 and 3; I've since learned better ways to shuffle) and Launch Party I went 3 and 1.

I found Naya's 5 power matters strategy actually works (gasp!) if you just run lots of Reborn's big dummies with cycling. It gets rid of the big cost drawback and leaves you with inevitability in the late game as you can play a higher curve than most opponents.
